Braum’s Ice Cream & Dairy Store
It is not easy to find a soul that doesn’t love summer. The sticky, mosquito thick, blistering heat of an Oklahoma summer is not what most people love. It’s the casual, sunlight-soaked, lazy days state-of-mind that summertime brings. The sizzling heat, paired with our carefree mindset, naturally pushes us toward summer’s favorite sweet treat, ice cream. For the freshest, most delectable ice cream in the area, all roads lead to Braum’s Ice Cream & Dairy Store.
Oklahomans take Braum’s for granted. As one of only five states that house Braum’s, we take for granted that it is always here. It is always consistent. It always has the best Butter Pecan ice cream that is beyond compare. They have been scooping patrons the freshest and most delicious ice cream for over 50 years. With hundreds of stores throughout a five-state region, Kay County is lucky to have two locations conveniently located in Ponca City and Blackwell.
That unmistakable neon pink and blue ice cream cone attracts Oklahomans like moths to a flame. It screams happiness and summertime. With 26 delightfully different, hand-dipped flavors to choose from at any time, narrowing down the choices can feel endless. In Ponca City, Cookie Dough ice cream reigns supreme as the most beloved flavor according to Store Manager, Kim Hall. As luck (and Braum’s) would have it, any flavor can be transformed into a thick, signature Braum’s milkshake. In addition to the gobs of diverse flavors, Braum’s has an extensive Fancy Sundae selection, each crowned with a sugary, fiery red, maraschino cherry.
Braum’s is the only major ice cream producer in the country to milk their own cows, who are living the good life on a farm just southeast of Oklahoma City. This means dairy products are delivered straight from the farm to Ponca City (and all locations) every other day. Stores are only built within a 330-mile radius of their farm to ensure freshness is at its peak. This exceptional freshness extends to their milk, ice cream, butter, cottage cheese, yogurts, dips and more, all of which Braum’s produces themselves. What’s more, they bake all their breads, cakes, cookies and bagels in-house. Endless containers of dreamy ice cream, sherbet and frozen yogurt are available to take home from their market, seven days a week.
A constant message from people who have lived in Oklahoma, but no longer live here, is “I never realized how good Braum’s was until it wasn’t always there.” Braum’s is truly an Oklahoma treasure and is sometimes undervalued until that Butter Pecan ice cream craving hits and you’re outside their 330-mile radius. Their scrumptious ice cream, sundaes and treats are fun and youthful, but don’t be fooled by that enthusiasm. The flavors are strong, and they are special. Summer is life at its best, and as the thermometer is rising, chill out with the most sensational dessert that never fails to please. Ready. Set. Summer. Braum’s.
